What to consider before booking
Choosing a radiator by appearance or width alone can leave a room cold. The published heat output depends on specified water and room temperatures. A radiator that works at a high boiler temperature may deliver considerably less heat on a lower-temperature system.
Size the output for the room
Room dimensions, outside walls, glazing and insulation influence the heat required. For a bay window, extension or loft room, layout and usable wall space also matter. Compare the required output with manufacturer data at the proposed operating temperatures, rather than copying the dimensions of the old radiator.
Panel, column and towel radiators
Different designs suit different spaces, but output and controls remain central. A decorative column radiator may need different dimensions from a panel radiator to provide comparable heat. A towel rail partly covered with towels may not provide all the space heating a bathroom needs.
Pipework and valves are part of the job
A radiator change may require valve replacement, altered pipe centres, draining and refilling, wall fixings and balancing. Concealed pipework or flooring can change the amount of disruption. Identify these items in the quotation before agreeing a purely supply-and-fit price.
Preparing radiators for a heat pump
Some existing emitters may be adequate; others may need to be larger or use a different design. Make that decision from room-by-room calculations. Replacing every radiator automatically can be unnecessary, while retaining every radiator without checking output can force higher water temperatures.
Prices and what to confirm
The price depends on your equipment, access and the work required. Ask Aura to confirm the charge and what it covers before booking.
| Price component | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Survey and specification | Agree the assessment and design deliverables before equipment is chosen. |
| Equipment and installation | Compare model, quantities, pipework, controls and access requirements. |
| Completion | Confirm commissioning, documentation, disposal and any making good. |

Send these details with your enquiry
- Room measurements and photographs
- Existing radiator dimensions and valve positions
- Current boiler or planned heat pump
- Desired position and any flooring or decoration constraints
Include your postcode and a callback number. Aura can then confirm whether a repair appointment, maintenance visit or installation survey is the right next step.
Enquire about radiator installation & upgradesYour questions answered
Can I keep my radiators with a heat pump?
Possibly. Their output at the proposed lower water temperatures must be compared with each room’s heat loss.
Can you move a radiator?
Relocation depends on suitable pipe routes, wall support and access. Send photos of the current and proposed positions.
Will a larger radiator cost more to run?
Size alone does not determine the bill. Room temperature, heat loss, operating temperatures and controls influence energy use.
Which areas does Aura cover?
Aura is based in Uddingston and considers radiator installation & upgrades across Glasgow and Lanarkshire, with suitable installations across Central Scotland. Confirm your postcode, equipment support and appointment availability directly.
