Published benchmarks and your quotation
| Item | Budget / requirement | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| One-room air-to-air system | About £1,900 | Energy Saving Trust indicative figure; not an Aura offer. |
| Three-bedroom semi-detached home | About £3,700 | Published indicative figure; room coverage and actual specification need checking. |
| Your installation | Survey-specific | Room count, equipment, routes, access and electrical work affect the quote. |
Reference figures are not Aura prices. Confirm the complete scope and total payable, including the applicable VAT treatment, in your written quotation.
Use the figures as a starting point
Published air-to-air heat-pump costs give an initial indication of budget. They do not guarantee that every room in your home can be served for the same amount. Tell Aura which rooms need cooling or heating and whether they will run simultaneously so the proposed coverage is explicit.
Single-split and multi-split quotations
One indoor unit with one outdoor unit is a different scope from several indoor units sharing equipment outside. Compare the models, room capacities and total simultaneous performance. Ask about limitations on operating modes and what happens if the shared outdoor equipment is unavailable.
Installation routes can change the total
The distance between units, wall construction, pipe concealment, condensate drainage, electrical supply and access all matter. A pump may be needed where gravity drainage is impractical. High-level outdoor work can need specialist access. Agree visible trunking and making good before the installation starts.
Understand running cost correctly
Cooling output is not electrical input. For illustration only, equipment drawing 0.7 kW for five hours at an assumed tariff of 25p per kWh would use £0.88 of electricity. Those are hypothetical inputs, not a prediction or current tariff. Actual demand varies as the unit modulates and conditions change.
Comfort, noise and maintenance belong in the comparison
A unit placed directly over a bed may be cheaper to connect but less comfortable to use. Compare indoor position, sound information, drainage and cleaning access as well as price. Confirm maintenance requirements and whether controls, commissioning and a user handover are included.
Your quotation checklist
- Exact equipment and the rooms or functions it will serve
- Survey, installation, access and any additional trades
- Controls, commissioning and handover documents
- Warranty conditions, servicing and support arrangements
- Full price, VAT treatment, exclusions and payment stages
Your questions answered
Are these prices for portable air conditioners?
No. The benchmarks concern air-to-air heat-pump systems. Aura’s installation service focuses on fixed domestic equipment.
Can I use AC to replace all my heating?
That requires a whole-home assessment of heat demand, room coverage and cold-weather capacity. Domestic hot water normally needs a separate solution.
